The Turkish regime has again prevented the European Union from monitoring the UN arms embargo on Libya.
The German news agency said that in February the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs intercepted the search of two commercial ships suspected of being used in illegal transport operations to Libya, noting that the Turkish flag was raised on the two vessels.
The agency confirmed that Turkey, in a previous incident last November, stopped an inspection of a container ship that had already begun by the German Marines. The European Union's monitoring mission, IRENI, was established in May 2020 in an effort to stabilize Libya and support political peace led by the United Nations.
