In a new blow to the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Erdogan, the United States announced its agreement to sell the F-35 fighter jet to Greece, which was to be delivered to Turkey.
Greek City Times website reported that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had given the green light for US F-35 fighters to go to Greece instead of Turkey.
The Greek site indicated that Greece will buy six of the 20 aircrafts in the year 2022, in addition to six French-made Rafale fighter jets.
The six US warplanes were previously assigned to Turkey, but the tension between Ankara and Washington due to the Turkish regime's acquisition of the Russian S-400 missile system prevented that.
These developments came after the visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last month to Souda Bay in Crete, Greece, to hold talks on relocating the US Incirlik base.
The American Times newspaper described at the time Pompeo's visit to the Greek island, as part of the US efforts to increase its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean, and the newspaper pointed out the US impatience after Turkey bought air defense systems from Russia.
And the US Department of Defense deprived the Turkish regime of eight F-35 air fighters, the most advanced in the world, manufactured by Lockheed Martin in a military deal worth $ 682 million.
