Two US officials told Reuters on Wednesday that a small number of American soldiers were injured in an accident with Russian forces in Syria.
One of the officials, who asked not to be named, said that the injuries were the result of a collision and not an exchange of fire.
The other official stated that the incident occurred this week in northeastern Syria and that the injuries were light.
The US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) and the US Army Central Command, which oversees US forces in the region, declined to comment.
