With the escalation of tension in Libya, the Egyptian parliament is preparing today to hold a session that its president described as the "mission" to authorize President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to send the armed forces to Libya, in exchange for a Turkish escalation represented in sending missiles and approaching the "red line" defined by Cairo in the city of Sirte and the base of Jafra .
Yesterday, the government forces, backed by Turkey, approached the "red line" that the Egyptian president set last month, pushed with more massive military reinforcements and moved its fighters towards the strategic city of Sirte, which is controlled by the "National Army" led by Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter.
For its part, Turkey sent home-made "Skarya T-22" missiles, which it had previously tried in Syria, to support the "Al-Wefaq" forces, as part of its preparations to attack Sirte and al-Jafra base. Ankara also sent two Lockheed C130E and A400M military cargo planes to the Al-Wattia and Misurata bases.
The representative of the Egyptian Parliament, Mr. El-Sherif, said that a “secret session” will be held by Parliament, on Monday, to take a decision authorizing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to send Egyptian forces to Libya.
Al-Sharif added, in press statements to local media, that Article 152 of the Egyptian constitution states that the state does not declare war and does not send its forces into combat missions except after the approval of the House of Representatives.
The representative of the House of Representatives answered a question about whether the vote would be in favor of sending the forces or against him, by saying, that in these situations there is no majority or opposition, stressing that all of them are one vote as long as there are risks that threaten the Egyptian state.
