A machine gun attack on a Turkish security patrol in central Istanbul

Two unidentified gunmen shot a Turkish security patrol in Bagcilar district of central Istanbul.

According to preliminary reports, the attack carried out by two armed men with machine guns wounded two Turkish security personnel.

Large numbers of security personnel have arrived at the scene and the entire area has been cordoned off, according to the Turkish local authorities.

The two militants fled with their weapons amid mobilization and cordoning off the scene.

Ambulances transported the injured from the scene to the city's hospitals. This is not yet known who was behind the attack.
